Suzie grew up on the south side of Chicago. In 1995, Suzie married Troy, a physician at Elkhart General Hospital; Together they have two children. After finishing her bachelor degree from Purdue, she earned her M.B.A. from Illinois State University. Suzie started her professional career employed by the Oak Park River Forest Chamber of Commerce. Subsequently, she worked in the public and private sectors on economic development and sustainability programs. She was then recruited by the City of Chicago to work in the Mayor's Office of Budget and Management as a Senior Policy Analyst and special project coordinator.  She was promoted to the executive level of the Chicago Public Library system as the Director of Acquisitions for over 80 branches with responsibility of a $13M budget.

Since moving to Elkhart County in 2010, Suzie has dedicated herself to serving her community. She was elected as a Board of Director's member for the Center for Hospice and Palliative Care and YMCA of Elkhart County. Suzie has been appointed to the Elkhart County Board of Zoning Appeals and recently accepted invitations to serve on the Regional Development Authority for North Central Indiana and the Blue Ribbon Committee for the Boys & Girls Club. In addition, she has Co-chaired or served the Elkhart General Hospital Foundation Auction, The Elkhart Youth and Community Center Auction, amongst other organizations. Suzie can also be found volunteering as a volleyball coach, basketball coach, and CrossFit coach. She and her family are parishioners at St. Thomas Catholic Church, Elkhart.
