Kiwanian Steve Brown opened the annual Joint meeting of the Elkhart Rotary and Kiwanis Club’s with an invocation and in doing so asked that the Rotarian’s present receive an extra special blessing.  Each year the clubs rotate hosting duties and this year it was the Kiwanis turn. Kiwanian Dr. Robert Franklin told a rather lengthy and not so humorous horror tale which left the room in groans. Kwanian Chris Vitaro acted as the fine master for the day. Chris acknowledged the birth of Kurt Janowsky’s new grandson Logan the seven pound and ten once baby is the son of Kurt’s daughter Karina. Kiwanian’s normally fine each other a nickel while Rotarian’s fine each other five dollars, when this was pointed out by Lisa Gilkey-Schoetzow the fines were immediately increased.  The Sergeant’s committee raises over $ 18,000.00 a year in “fines” those funds are then donated to local charities. All fines in December are donated to the Salvation Army.

The Elkhart Memorial High School Madrigal Singers lead by Director Brenda Butler provided seasonal entertainment. The group of 16 in full period costume sang Christmas songs from Queen Elizabeth’s court in the Fifthteen Hundredths.
